DESIGN FEATURES TO CONSIDER:
When planning out a deck project there are several questions we ask our clients.
- What size deck would you like? We can make any size or layout to meet your needs.
- What type of lumber would you like the framing? Treated lumber either “green or cedartone”, or cedar
- What style decking would you like? 5/4×6 treated, cedar or Composite Decking (Azek or Trex). 2×4 or 2×6 lumber.
- Will there be any stairs on your deck? Tip: The most economical way is to have the stairwell coming straight off one of the sides, however this tends to take up the most yard space. Often times a 4’x4′ landing is built at the top of the stairs on one of the deck sides and the stairs run parallel to it. This keeps the stairs from extending too much beyond the overall deck dimensions.
- What type of railing would you like? Prefer maintenance free? Check out our trusted railing supplier for a full host of high quality railing systems at Decks Direct. If budget is a concern an all wood railing w/ either 2×2 wood balusters or aluminum round balusters is your best option.
- Add-on items to consider. Cladding on rim joists. Header cladding, Deck post wraps/cladding.
